Good morning, Robina.
Winter's in full swing, but there's nothing chilly about this week's lineup. A local NRL legend just scored a $50,000 boost from the community, a nurse from Robina Hospital is packing his bags for the Commonwealth Games, and the Titans are set to bring hot dogs, wrestling, and NFL-style chaos to Cbus Super Stadium this Saturday.
We've also got the lowdown on those roadworks slowing down your school run, a fresh Thai restaurant worth checking out in the Town Centre, and a $2.175 million property sale that's turned heads. Plus, your weekend market guide, trivia nights, and local deals to keep you fed and entertained.
Grab a coffee and settle in — there's plenty happening around the traps this week.

$50K Kickstart: Lottery Office Steps Up Big for Jai Arrow

The Lottery Office has kicked off the Gold Coast Titans' upcoming "Stand with Jai" charity round in the best way possible, donating a massive $50,000 to support former Titan Jai Arrow and the wider MND community.
The funds are split right down the middle: $25k to MND Queensland for essential care and equipment, and $25k directly to the Family of League’s official Stand with Jai fundraiser.
With Round 26 approaching on August 28, the rugby league community is rallying behind the Gold Coast junior following his MND diagnosis. Between a major charity lunch at Burleigh Bears and a special commemorative jersey when the Titans face the Rabbitohs, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic weekend honoring a great guy.
Good on you, Lottery Office!

Roadworks Near Robina State School Are Causing Morning Delays - and They Run Until October

If the Glen Eagles Drive or Ron Penhaligon Way school run has been slower than usual lately, active transport upgrades near Robina State School are the reason. The City of Gold Coast is installing new footpaths, bollard lighting, pedestrian refuges, and upgraded bus shelters, with works running through to October 2026.
Single-lane closures, pedestrian detours, and reduced street parking are in play throughout. Traffic controllers are on site, but morning delays are happening regardless. Add at least ten minutes to the school run each morning until the work wraps up.

DEBATE OF THE WEEK
Hot dog eating contest or a classic Aussie meat pie: what is the real game-day food at Cbus?
The Titans are bringing their 4th Annual 2-minute Hot Dog Eating Contest to this Saturday's match against the Warriors as part of the NFL-themed entertainment. It is a fair enough spectacle - but it does raise a legitimate question about what actually belongs on the menu at Robina's home ground.

LEGEND OF THE WEEK:
Jai Arrow
Former Gold Coast Titan Jai Arrow partnered with The Lottery Office this week to present a $50,000 donation split evenly between two crucial causes: $25,000 to MND Queensland for patient care and equipment, and $25,000 to the Family of League’s official Stand with Jai fundraiser.
The presentation kicks off the Gold Coast Titans' upcoming "Stand with Jai" Round in late August 2026, honoring Arrow following his sudden retirement from the NRL at age 30 after receiving a Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis in May 2026. Arrow grew up in this community. Good on him.
