Most Robina drivers have a moment at Christine Avenue. That slight hesitation before turning. The scan for cars coming too fast. The quiet relief when you get through clean.

Turns out, that instinct is backed by data.

State crash figures updated to August 2026 ranked Robina 20th in Queensland for crash severity — worse than 97% of the 993 suburbs mapped. The worst spot in the suburb: Christine Avenue and Robina Town Centre Drive. Over the 2016–2025 period, 31 casualty crashes at that one intersection resulted in 39 injuries.

Two others made the list. Christine Avenue and Scottsdale Drive logged 102 injuries. Cheltenham Drive and Robina Parkway came in at 79.

Locals have been pushing for redesigned turning lanes and signal changes for years. This data doesn't fix anything on its own — but it makes the problem a lot harder to ignore.

Council hasn't responded yet. Worth watching.

An attached three-bedroom at 239/2 Bella Avenue sold for $1,020,000, and local forums immediately produced their verdict: "living like sardines for seven figures."

The complaints weren't entirely unfair. Visitor parking gone by Friday arvo. Walls thin enough to know your neighbour's Netflix queue. Body corporate rules with opinions about your dog.

The market, predictably, doesn't care. Robina's unit median is sitting around $1.005 million, with annual growth of 15.5% — and Bella Avenue, Fairlight Avenue, and the Vue estate are all moving the same way.

Who's buying? Probably not someone who dreamed of shared driveways. More likely someone priced out of freestanding homes who still wants Robina without the commute.

Good value or not tends to depend on whether you own one.

Light Rail Stage 4 is dead. The Government pulled the plug last year after locals made enough noise, and now the replacement has a name: the Gold Coast Surfer.

It'll be a high-frequency bus running every 15 minutes between Robina Town Centre and Miami, connecting into the existing coastal tram line — which, as of last week, now runs all the way through to Burleigh Heads. Not a tram. A bus. But a fast, frequent one.

There's a second route from Nerang to Broadbeach every 15 minutes, serving the Carrara sporting precinct. Parts of Nerang–Broadbeach Road will also be widened to six lanes to support the new service.

Rail advocates reckon buses just move the congestion problem rather than solve it. That's a reasonable concern.

But for Robina residents with limited east-west options right now, a service every 15 minutes is a genuine step up.

Not everything they asked for. Something, at least.

Anyone who has sat with a family member in a busy ward knows how disorienting that environment can be for someone with dementia. Fluorescent lights, constant noise, strangers moving through. Hard on the patient. Hard on the family.

The new H2 East Ward was built with exactly that in mind.

Twenty beds split between two units: one for dementia patients, one for complex elderly presentations. Garden terrace, calmer interiors, artwork from local Gold Coast artists. The design cuts sensory overload deliberately - quieter, softer, more settled.

The design team behind the expansion, ACME, has released new project visuals - and it's a significant shift from what's there now.

The centrepiece is a new Market Hall sitting between the two existing supermarkets. An undulating timber-clad roof runs the length of the space, with 55 dedicated spots for local and regional producers inside. Think honey-toned timber ribs, natural light filtering through south-facing notches, and the whole thing stepping down into a landscaped outdoor area with a water feature.

The bigger idea is pulling Robina Town Centre back toward what it was originally designed to be - an open, urban town centre facing the lake, not an inward-looking shopping mall.

Whether it delivers on that is a question for when construction wraps. But the plans look genuinely good.
