Good morning Robina. Monday's downpour was one for the record books - flood warnings, hundreds emergency callouts across the Gold Coast, and a Tuesday school run that nobody will forget in a hurry.

Women's State of Origin Game 3 lands at Cbus Super Stadium next Thursday night, which means Stadium Drive locals should be doing their event-day planning now.

Also this week: Club Robina's $5 million renovation is officially under way, reshaping one of the suburb's most-used community venues from the ground up.

Let’s get into it.

Robina Drenched: Record Rainfall Closes Fields, Parks and Plans

After days of nonstop rain, Robina is finally starting to dry out… but not before the weather turned half the suburb into a swimming pool.

The City of Gold Coast’s outdoor screening of The Wild Robot at Greenheart Parklands has now been pushed back closer to July after the grounds were left completely waterlogged, while local sports fields became mud pits and roads across Robina were flooded or closed.

Thankfully the skies are finally clearing now.

What do you guys think? Just a random downpour or the start of a wet Gold Coast winter?

DEVELOPMENT

Club Robina’s $5 Million Makeover Is Moving Fast

Club Robina on Ron Penhaligon Way is currently undergoing a huge $5 million renovation, the biggest upgrade the venue has seen in years.

The project includes revamped dining spaces, bars, lounges and lawn bowls facilities, with construction officially kicking off back in February. Stage 1 has already wrapped up, including the launch of the club’s brand-new gaming lounge, while Stage 2 works are now transforming the main social areas.

The full renovation is expected to be completed in early June, with the club aiming to create a more modern experience for locals stopping by for bowls, steak night Thursdays or the famous Tuesday seafood plate.

Are you looking forward to the upgrade, or do you prefer the old-school Club Robina vibe?

DEBATE OF THE WEEK

State of Origin: brave the traffic and drive, or take the park-and-ride from Mudgeeraba?

No public parking at Cbus, traffic enforcement zones from 4pm, and thousands of extra people in the precinct. For anyone near Stadium Drive, this is not a hypothetical. What is your plan?
