Good morning Robina. A pedestrian bridge at Rainer Park near Lake Lomandra is gone - destroyed by fire on Wednesday, with two 12-year-old boys now charged. If you walk around the lake, you've already noticed the gap. The full story is below.
This weekend is Anzac Day, and Robina is doing it properly. The march assembles in Arbour Lane at 8:30am on Saturday, the service follows at Robina Auditorium, and the Robina Remembers art exhibition has been running all week with school contributions at Robina Art Gallery. It's worth making time for.
And a reminder: the Translink rail disruptions affecting Robina Station are running through to 30 April. Check before you leave the house.

THIS WEEK IN ROBINA
PEOPLE & COMMUNITY

Robina marks Anzac Day with its own march, service and art exhibition
This Saturday, Robina has its own full Anzac Day program - not just a mention on a council website, but the real thing. The march assembles at 8:00 am in Arbour Lane at Robina Town Centre, steps off at 8:30 am, and finishes at Robina Auditorium for a 9:00 am service. School captains take part. The Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra, Coastal Charisma and All Saints Voices perform. Morning tea follows at 9:45 am.
The Robina Remembers art exhibition at Robina Art Gallery has been running since 15 April and closes on Sunday 26 April. It is community and school-built - local artworks, memories and display items tied to the commemoration. Free entry and walking distance from Town Centre.
This is one of the more distinctly local events on the Robina calendar. Worth turning out for.
CRIME / SAFETY

Two 12-year-olds charged after Rainer Park bridge destroyed by fire
A pedestrian bridge at Rainer Park near Lake Lomandra was destroyed by fire on Wednesday 15 April. Queensland Fire sent four trucks. The blaze was extinguished just after 1:00pm — but not before the bridge was beyond saving.
Two 12-year-old Robina boys have been charged. Police had already been called to suspicious fires in the area earlier that same day. Gold Coast City Council says it is working to repair and reopen the damaged pathway.
If you use this walkway regularly, access around the lake precinct is currently disrupted. The question locals are asking: how did two kids allegedly cause this much damage in broad daylight, and what happens to a pathway this many people rely on?
INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORT

Rail disruptions at Robina run until 30 April - check before you travel
Translink has confirmed major track closures across the network through to 30 April 2026. For Robina locals, that means extra planning time, longer journeys, and likely rail-bus substitutions on routes via Robina Station.
This is not a one-weekend blip. It is a month-long disruption affecting daily commuters, students, airport trips, and anyone relying on the rail link for events at Cbus Super Stadium. If you rely on Robina Station, treat this as an all-April tax on your routine.
Check current service alerts and stop information at translink.com.au before you leave the house.

17-year-old hat-trick hero as Robina City Soccer stage a comeback
Robina City Soccer's FQPL 1 side were 2-0 down to Redlands United on 18 April and came back to draw 2-2. Respectable. But the real story was in the U23s - 17-year-old Ben Kinloch scored a hat-trick on his first day playing up. The club won that one 4-3.
A local teenager bagging three goals on his debut at a higher level. Good on him. Worth watching what comes next.

Cbus is back in play - runners this Sunday, Titans next Saturday
Two major events at Cbus Super Stadium over the next fortnight. First up: the Gold Coast Running Festival on Sunday 26 April, with race starts from 5:00am and gates opening at 6:00am. Multiple distances, staged out of Robina's own backyard.
Then the Titans are home for Round 9 against the Raiders on Saturday 2 May — gates at 1:30pm, kick-off 3:00pm. If you live near Town Centre, the quiet stretch is done. Runners first, then the football crowd a week later.
