Good morning Robina. Cranes are coming: construction has kicked off on a new five-level office building and nearly $2.5 billion in fresh development is heading Robina's way.
Meanwhile, a Robina man has been charged after riding 146km/h on a mountain road - without ever holding a motorcycle licence. It's the story that should make every resident's eyebrow go up.
Sunday night, Cbus fills up for Round 4 of the NRL - the Titans are home against the Dragons. And if you haven't been to Lovi yet, the new Italian-Mediterranean spot on Laver Drive, keep reading.
THIS WEEK IN ROBINA

DEVELOPMENT / BUSINESS
$2.5 Billion in Development Is Heading for Robina - and the Cranes Are Already Moving
Construction has officially started on The Base Robina - a five-level A-Grade commercial office building on a waterfront site in the Robina CBD. Kane Constructions is delivering it under a Design and Construct contract, with completion targeted for early 2028. It will bring over 6,700sqm of flexible multi-tenant office space, three levels of basement, and end-of-trip facilities.
That's just the opener. The PRD Robina 1st Half 2026 Market Update puts approximately $2.5 billion in new residential projects in the pipeline for the area from 2026 onwards - concentrated in units, apartments and townhouses. Not a single new standalone house is in the mix.
That last point matters. Robina's median house price hit $1,525,000 in Q4 2025 - up 17.3% year on year. Median units reached $985,000, up 23.1%. With nothing new being built in the house category, the pressure on existing stock is only going one way. The vacancy rate across the suburb sits at 0.8%.
If you've been waiting for the market to soften before buying a house in Robina, this data isn't going to make you feel better.
CRIME
Robina Man Caught at 146km/h - And He's Never Held a Motorcycle Licence
A 42-year-old Robina man is facing court after police intercepted him on Tamborine Mountain Road doing 146km/h in an 80km/h zone. He was travelling with three other motorcyclists, all clocked at the same speed - 66km/h over the limit.
The Robina man's situation is worse than the others. He has been charged with both speeding and riding without a licence. Police allege he has never held a motorcycle licence. Not lapsed. Not suspended. Never held one.
The other three riders - from Mermaid Waters, Southport and Runaway Bay - each copped a Traffic Infringement Notice: a $1,919 fine and an automatic six-month licence suspension. The Robina man faces Beaudesert Magistrates Court on 14 April.
QPS Acting Inspector Geoff Douglas said the speed placed all road users at extreme risk. That's putting it mildly. Tamborine Mountain Road is a winding climb with blind corners and oncoming traffic. At 146km/h, there is no margin for error.

The Stadium's Big Weekend - and What Comes After
Cbus Super Stadium is at the heart of Robina's calendar right now. The AFC Women's Asian Cup wrapped up on 21 March, having brought six matches - including a sold-out Matildas v Iran clash on 5 March - to the suburb's backyard. Queensland's tourism body estimated the tournament generated $12.5 million in visitor spending for the state. Locals near the stadium and along Robina Town Centre Drive would have felt the buzz all month.
On Saturday night, Freestyle Kings Live takes over the stadium with a motocross and action sports spectacular from 6:00pm.

And on Sunday the NRL takes over. The Gold Coast Titans host St George Illawarra Dragons in their Round 4 home game, kickoff 6:15pm AEDT.
If you're not - plan for traffic impacts on Robina Parkway and surrounding streets from around 4:30pm through to 9:00pm. Two major events, two nights in a row - keep the weekend traffic in mind.

DEBATE OF THE WEEK
Is Robina finally becoming a food destination in its own right - or does it still live in Broadbeach and Burleigh's shadow?
Two new cafes opened in the past six weeks. A farmers market is packing out a school oval every Sunday morning. The question local foodies are starting to ask out loud: is Robina finally getting its moment?

LEGEND OF THE WEEK:
⭐ This Week's Legend: Robina Lions Club
The Robina Lions Club has quietly crossed 100,000 pairs of donated eyeglasses through their recycling program. Locals drop off old prescription specs, reading glasses and sunnies at participating optometrists around the suburb. The glasses are refurbished and distributed to communities with limited access to eye care. It's been running for years and most residents have no idea it exists. That's exactly what makes it worth calling out. Good on ya, Robina Lions. Read more >
