Good morning Robina. Queensland Health has named half a dozen of your regular suburb spots on a live measles exposure list - the ALDI, the medical centre, the shopping centre. A local councillor is finally taking aim at the abandoned trolleys that keep turning up in your parks.
The Titans host the Broncos at Cbus on Saturday. And Walker group’s 2,750-home Lakesview plan is shaping up as the suburb’s biggest argument of 2026. Grab your morning coffee, let’s get into it.
THIS WEEK IN ROBINA

HEALTH ALERT
Your usual Robina haunts are on the measles exposure list
Queensland Health issued the alert on 28 March after two confirmed cases were linked to overseas travel. The named sites are not vague regional locations - they are ordinary Robina errands.

Watch for fever, cough, or rash for up to three weeks from the exposure date. Call a doctor before attending in person. Full details at health.qld.gov.au
DEVELOPMENT
2,750 homes approved. One councillor is worried about your commute
This state fast-tracked Walker Group’s Lakesview Robina project. Up to 2,750 dwellings, around 550 affordable homes, $150 million in community infrastructure. Construction within two years.
Councillor Dan Doran disagrees. He is on record warning about overwhelmed M1 exits 79 and 82, flood prone land, 72-metre towers, and a lack of community consultation. Mayor Tom Tate has separately pushed Transport Minister Brent Mickelberg to prioritise Exit 82 upgrades.
COUNCIL
Cr Dan Doran is pushing for a review of local laws on abandoned shopping trolleys in the community.
Do you put back your trolley? well Cr Dan Doran received unanimous support from the Planning & Regulation Committee and hopes to secure full Council backing. Measures being considered include mandatory containment systems, CCTV, stronger impounding powers, and corporate fines of up to $1,300. For reference, Ipswich has had automatic trolley locks in place since 2013.

DEBATE OF THE WEEK
Are abandoned shopping trolleys a retailer problem, a shopper problem, or just life near a major centre?
Cr Dan Doran wants tougher local laws, mandatory containment systems, and bigger fines. Residents are filing complaints. The retailers are pointing at the shoppers. The shoppers are pointing at the retailers.
