CRIME / SAFETY

Man stabbed multiple times during violent home invasion
A man is in a serious but stable condition after a violent home invasion in Carrara early Tuesday morning. Police say an intruder forced entry into a Plateau Crescent home around 4am, waking a 38-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman.
When the man confronted the offender, a struggle broke out, leaving him with multiple stab wounds, including a severe facial injury. The woman sustained minor injuries while helping force the intruder out.
Both victims were taken to hospital, with the woman later discharged. Police have cordoned off the scene and are searching for the offender, with reports of a dark SUV seen leaving the area.
Authorities believe the attack may be linked to another robbery in Nerang and are treating the incident as random.
TRANSPORT

Heads up, Robina commuters - buses replace trains through Sunday
If you are planning to catch the train this weekend, make alternate plans now. Translink has confirmed extended rail closures on the Gold Coast line, with replacement buses running between Varsity Lakes and Boggo Road from Thursday 16 April through to Sunday 19 April 2026.
That covers the entire Robina Station corridor for four days. A simple train trip becomes a bus-and-transfer situation, with longer travel times in both directions. Worth knowing before you commit to a weekend up the coast or a day trip to Brisbane.
Check current schedules and stop information at translink.com.au before you leave the house.

Titans NRL - Round 6 Result
The Gold Coast Titans put on a stunning performance at CommBank Stadium on Sunday April 13, demolishing the Parramatta Eels 52-10 in what became Parramatta's biggest loss at the venue. It was also, the Titans' first-ever win at CommBank Stadium - a genuine milestone.
Fullback Keano Kini was superb, while halves Lachlan Ilias and Jayden Campbell continue to build an impressive partnership. Campbell had personal reasons to celebrate too - Titans halfback Jayden Campbell became a dad when his partner gave birth during the week.
Winger Phil Sami scored a double and now needs just 12 tries to surpass Anthony Don's club record of 85 tries. One to watch.
Next home game: Gold Coast Titans v Raiders (Round 9), Saturday May 2, 3:00pm at Cbus Super Stadium. Ticketmaster Tickets via Ticketmaster.

DEBATE OF THE WEEK
Rail replacement buses this weekend - minor inconvenience or absolute weekend ruiner?
Four days of buses between Varsity Lakes and Boggo Road sounds manageable until you are standing at a stop waiting for a service running 20 minutes late. Some locals take it in stride. Others reckon it completely defeats the point of living near a rail corridor. Where do you land?
